Yukie
Sato (guitar, vocal)
Born
in 1963, Tokyo. Since teenage I have made rock bands, and played in Japanese
underground rock movement. When I was a high school student, I played
with Sakamoto Ryuichi on TV.
1995, I formed special rock band that plays only Korean rock music, called
¡°Kopchangjeongol¡±(it means cooked intestines served in the pot in Korean).
I invited many Korean rock bands to Japan to play together.
1999, Kopchangjeongol became the first Japanese rock band that debuted
in Korea. 1st album ¡°Annyoung-hashi-mu-nika?¡± was sold by Doremi records
which is the largest record company in Korea. And then I moved to Seoul.
I played on TV, radio and appeared in newspapers and magazines. And I
have held Korea-Japan underground rock festivals many times.
Side
by side, I started to play improvised music.
2000, I formed ¡°Jabrec Art Music¡± with Japanese friends, Yagihashi Tsukasa(as).
We made up many CD-R¡¯s with our friends.
In Korea, I have communicated and played with Kang Tae Hwan(as), Kim Dae
Hwan(per), Choi Sun Bae(tp), Alfred Harth and so on. I supported Korea
live tour of Toyozumi Yoshisaburo(ds) and Phil Minton(vo), and Japan tour
of Park Chang Soo(p), who is an improviser and a composer. And in Korea
I has held many concerts of Japanese improvisers, Ruins, Ichiraku Yoshimitsu
(ds), Yamamoto Seiichi (g;Bordoms), Kawabata Makoto(g;Acid Mothers Temple),
etc. I have been playing improvised music across the Japan Sea.
In February 2002, I had Japan tour with Choi Sun Bae, and made CD-R ¡°Instant
Demo¡± by duo, that is well received.
In May, I played with Han Bennink, and performed at Yokohama Jazz Festival.
In December, I invited Phil Minton to Korea again.
In November, I composed and played special music for Korean dance company
of Oh Eun Hee, who is a modern and traditional dancer, with Shin Hae Young,
who is a Korean traditional musician and an improviser (she has made CD
with Mikami Kan), and Sunagawa Masakazu, who plays African percussions.
Through these years, I played in Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima,
Yamaguchi, Fukuoka, etc.
Recently I collaborate with Higo Hiroshi (b;Shibusashirazu) many times.
And 2003, I have started small live concert series ¡°Bulgasari¡± in Seoul.
The opinion of ¡°Bulgasari¡± is following.
In
Korea we cannot find any underground scene of improvised music, noise
music, and so on¡¦ And here are no shops that sell CDs & records of
that kind of music now.
It is an important cause that people have no chance to listen to that
kind of music, and musicians and artists have no chance to play. I think.
Truly are here no musicians? There must be potential artists, must not?
Of cause, we, a few improvisers in Korea, have no place to play here.
And I want to find new generation, new young artists. So I have started
live series of ¡°Bulgasari¡±.
I want to make some special stages over genres, not jazz, not rock, not
academic¡¦
Do you want to listen to the music nobody heard before, don¡¯t you?
